In this inaugural post, we showcase what has changed in our research process and why. We introduce a revised methodology for categorizing technologies, we present the Stories, our new editorial content, as well as some additional exciting features of the platform. We will also explain how you can use the techdetector.net, and how you can collaborate with us.

Welcome to the techdetector.net Platform

Our proprietary methodology is a research standard designed to analyze and classify emerging technologies, containing a series of metrics and criteria created to keep track of the latest technological developments.

Methodology

In an effort to implement more democratic technological developments, Envisioning together with GIZ Morocco, developed the techdetector.net Morocco, an interactive tool that helps track emerging technologies and assess their potential according to local needs.

Future Scenario

Deforestation fires

The present article examines the intricacies related to soy and cattle production and their association with deforestation. You are invited to discover the potential of emerging technologies in enhancing supply chain traceability, monitoring, and tracking, as well as helping agri-food actors fight against Climate Change.

The Impact of Technologies in Education

Why assessing the impact of emerging technologies is so critical?

From Hype to Hyperlinked: The Supply Chain of Tomorrow

This future scenario explores the role of technology in providing mechanisms for transparency, traceability, and accountability to support sustainable economic development. We consider the hyperlinked supply chain: a symbiotic articulation of digital technologies and tools across a ubiquitous, automated, and predominantly circular supply chain.

From Limu, with Love

This Sci-fi Chronicle aims to illustrate the relationship that consumers of the future have with the products they choose and the producers involved: how consumers access the information behind a brand, the kind of available data, and how it might influence consumer behavior.

Case Study

Digital twin Concept

In this case study, we analyze the potential of emerging technologies involved in the development and design of Digital Twins for the tracking and monitoring of physical assets through virtual representations.

Digital Twins: The Link Towards Sustainability

Hydrogen fuel cell

A fuel cell made of hydrogen able to convert chemical energy into electrical energy.

Hydrogen Fuel Cell

Small Modular Reactor

Self-contained modular nuclear reactors that produce nuclear energy without needing external interference in the event of emergencies.

Small Modular Reactor (SMR)

Algae Biofuel

A nearly carbon-neutral alternative to fossil fuels. Algaculture produces minimal impact on freshwater resources and holds higher biofuel yields. It can be used in the creation of a wide range of fuels, including ethanol and biodiesel.

AI Therapist

A machine-learning powered software capable of monitoring patients' emotions while learning human behavior through audio, textual, and video conversations.

Artificial Intelligence

A machine-based software intelligence capable of evolving autonomously as more data is added into its algorithmic structure. In short, Artificial Intelligence is founded on the principles of constantly learning while trying to draw conclusion based on logical and numerical structures.

Blockchain

An immutable and tamper-proof online database that stores information across a network of personal computers, making it decentralized and distributed. This means that no single central company or person owns the database and that multiple users in the network can use it and help run it.

Adapting to Climate Change

With the Paris Agreement of 2015, the international community has made a binding commitment for the first time to reduce global warming to well below two degrees or even to 1.5 degrees, if possible. However, climate change is already taking place, so people, ecosystems, infrastructure, investments, etc. need to be adapted to the consequences. GIZ supports partner countries in increasing their adaptation capacity and resilience.
